Peru
The General Assembly
A.I.D.S

The General Assembly,

Realizing that people with A.I.D.S have the right to live free of discrimination, yet regulations and other measures designed to eliminate such discrimination have been slow in coming especially to the vulnerable population, mainly women and children,

Aware that the UN is trying to develop anti-discrimination policies, but yet many people in Peru are still discriminated for carrying A.I.D.S and also HIV,

I Expresses Deep Concern

(A) 51,00 adults age 15-49 are infected with A.I.D.S over half of which are women and children;

(B) As the population is growing the incidence of A.I.D.S will multiply at a faster rate;

II Is Aware That

(A) Recognizes the UNAIDS is the main advocate for global action on the epidemic;

(B) Also realizes the UN budget is limited to prevention mainly verses anti-discrimination and prevention;

III Recommends

(A) That the UNAIDS:

1. Developing anti discrimination to protect orphans and vulnerable children from all forms of abuse, violence, exploitation, discrimination, trafficking and loss of inheritance;

2. Empowering women is essential for reducing vulnerability; the vulnerable must be given priority.
