The General Assembly
Mortality rates in East Asian countries -
Relating to water born diseases

The General assembly,

Realizing that all people have to right to health care and adequate sanitation as a proper means of life, yet the recent mortality rates pertaining to poor sanitation, inadequate drinking water, and improper disposal of human excreta,

Aware that many East Asian countries are still in development in such areas as sanitation and health education to the public, however the diseases that are killing so many people of this cultural region are water born and can easily be stopped,

Expresses deep concern

The infant mortality rates going upward mainly because of treatable water-related diseases;

The preventable spread of these such diseases;

That the majority of these deadly diseases such as Cholera, Scabies, Diarrhea, Campylobacteriosis ( a severe form of diarrhea ), and Ascariasis, which cause many infant deaths can be simply prevented with better sanitation and personal hygiene;

Aware that

The infant mortality rates and the population under 15 are closely related and in the case of the country of China it shows that there is the highest percentage of the population under 15;

That the governments of East Asia , mainly Japan have made major improvements in the past ;

The World Health Organization (WHO) has tried before to solve this problem;

Recommends

That the World Health Organization

Strongly recommend to the UN that the issue of proper sanitation should be considered a major problem to the health of not only the East Asian nations but to other areas of the world also;

Call for more funding towards the efforts to stop water-related diseases;

Send volunteer groups to educate the poor on proper hygiene

Set up a monitoring system in which volunteer doctors and nurses can track a families health and do research from this monitoring;

Have routine checks into the rural hospitals of East Asian countries and South African nations;

Send more funding towards water purifying tablets pamphlets on how to purify water with the basic necessities, and pediatric clinics in these affected countries
