The General Assembly
Adequate Sanitation

The General Assembly,

Realizing that to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples, yet the lack of people in Vietnam don’t have a sanitation device which violates the social advancement of those peoples,

Aware that the country of Vietnam has been war struck and is in a very poor economic situation, however people not being able to go to the bathroom is disgusting, unhygienic, and unhealthy,

I. Expresses Deep Concern

(A) Only 47% of Vietnam’s population is using adequate sanitation devices, which makes Vietnam a country that should be dealt with immediately;

(B) Vietnam has only sewage systems and good water quality in the main cities such as Ho Chi Minh. With Sewage systems throughout the nations villages would provide an area to build toilets and dispose body waste;

(C) Sanitation problems are not only in Vietnam. 2.4 billion or two fifths the worlds population lacked access to adequate sanitation devices;

II. Is Aware That

(A) Vietnam is a third world country with a very low HDI ranking of 109;

(B) The people of Vietnam have problems with remaining war weapons such as landmines and unexploded bombs;

(C) Is aware that Vietnam may not have the money or the abilities to build complex sewage systems and waste disposal projects unlike western countries;

III Recommends

(A) That the Security Council:

1. Bring sewage companies and construction companies to build sewage systems through all main cities as well as through large villages.

2. Bring large amounts of honey buckets and place at least 10 in each village as well as give training to Vietnamese children and/or adults on how to “potty train” children

3. Help educate the public about not playing in sewers and how to respectively use the new sanitation devices so if the country takes another decade to come out of poverty the sanitation well stay strong.
