The creature that had been watching his own targets finally moved off towards the fire itself, leaving the two elves completely unguarded. Kiassa stepped silently through the thin membrane that seperated the two realms and threw a pouch with a sleeping powder in it at the two. Nemesis had given it to him to insure that both were delivered alive and unharmed. The pouch ruptured, spewing the powder upwards with more force than he would have believed possible for such a light throw. The cloud of powder engulfed the two elves and before they could make any outcry they had slumped to the ground. The spell that Kemanoral had cast faded, but the clouds still poured rain down on the fire. They wouldn't go until they had been emptied of all the water they contained, or until another mage banished them. Kiassa didn't care, it didn't concern him. He bent and scooped up Immarra first and slung her over one shoulder before hoisting Kemanoral up onto his other shoulder. The demon moved as though the two bodies weighed nothing, the portal that Nemesis had promised appearing before him to return him to her abode. Stepping through he peered around for the dragon, the gloom cloaking her obsidian body remarkably well. When she spoke he almost jumped, and settled for turning to glare at the place where the voice had come from.
"I see you were successful, and very prompt as well. Your services are no longer required and as I promised I'll remove the shard that's still lodged within your body."
Kiassa set his burden down and walked forward unflinchingly. He knew this would hurt and missed the gleam in Nemesis's eyes. Her foreclaw reached out and plunged into Kiassa's body, removing not only the shard but what passed for his heart as well. The utter shock on his face as black blood fountained out around the claws imbedded in his chest brought a rumbling laugh from Nemesis's throat. She had had no intention of letting the damned fool demon leave her demenses alive. Turning, she set both the shard and the demon's heart on a nearby outcropping of rock, using her tail to slam Kiassa's deceased form into a far wall. Turning back to the two elves she scooped up Keman's limp body and placed him in a cage that was designed to keep elves in, blocking both magic and sound, to insure that the one trapped within couldn't escape without outside help. Pacing back towards Immarra's prone form she cast the spell of silence to keep her from using her gift of song before waking her roughly with the other, unbloodied foreclaw.
"Wakey Wakey little bard. I have a mission for you, one that I just know you'll be perfect for."
Immarra stirred, her head feeling like a she'd been pummeled by clubs from the inside. A not so nice side-effect of the powder, but better unconscious than dead. The voice rousing her was familar and it sent a chill of dread down her spine. She groaned....or thought she did, though no sound escaped her lips. Now she was certain of who had brought her here, the spell combined with the voice left only one creature in her mind. Nemesis had her....and if she had her, then she must also have Keman. Pushing herself up into a standing position she peered through the gloom much like Kiassa had done. She saw the body of the demon and turned away quickly, her gaze falling on the cage that held Keman. She called his name though no noise escaped her throat. The foreclaw that had shaken her awake now closed around her body in a vise-like grip, tight without being painful. And then Nemesis spoke directly to her, the warm air from her breath washing over Immarra like a foul wind.
"I have a mission for you little Bard. You want to remain alive, and I would wager that you also want your companion to stay in that same state. All you have to do is deliver a message, and once delivered you can go free, along with your friend. There's a war brewing, though I doubt half of the participants know it. The demon legions are already amassed and ready to march. There is one who has the strength to delay, if not halt completely the war. I want you to go to him and see that he joins the battle to come. I don't care what side he's on, but to remain neutral would not be a good thing. One side or the other will see him as either a bump to be gone over, or a blockage to go around without any way of budging it. I'm sure you can do this, I think Enzeru is a reasonable man, though I could be wrong. Remember though, that not only does your life depend on your success, but so does your companion. Your voice will return to you once your through the portal, and I will be watching you to see if your successful."
The Crystal Dragon put the Bard down and turned slightly to reopen the portal for her newest messenger. She would have to make her way to Enzeru, there was no way she would put the portal right at his front gate. She wanted the Bard to suffer a little before carrying out her mission. When the portal was open she shoved Immarra through and closed down the portal before she could bolt back and attempt to free the other elf.
Once on the other side of the portal her voice returned and she looked cautiously around the landscape wondering who Enzeru was. She didn't know the person, didn't know if he would give a damn about her or her friend or if there was even a remote chance he would join the brewing fight at all. Head bowed she began to walk forward, certain that the mission she was being for forced to go on was a fruitless one.
