Subject: Encouragement of the "monstrous"?

Through Girard, we have defined the monstrous as something or someone that blurs the lines of distinctions (such as a centaur or a minotaur). If there is such a huge aversion to the blurring of distinctions amongst humans, then I just say look at pets and their owners. It seems like owners love to do whatever they can to make the animals seem more human (e.g teaching a dog to shake hands or open doors). Even if they dont physically try and instill human-like qualities in animals, people always seem to address the animals as if they are humans as well. I really dont have an analysis of it, yet I think it is very interesting that people (not excluding myself) tend to try and even enjoy trying to break the lines of distinction between themselves and animals
