Thanks for sharing this info about yourself and your wife.
You seem to have some benefits from your time spent within this movement. This seems to make it different from other cult stories that we hear. You seem to have left before the negative aspects set in. It struck me as some of these organisations might have the ability to take someone a certain distance on the journey, but no further. Then is the time for the parting of the ways.
One other question rather intregues me. As a sociology grad we learned about abuse. Women who suffered physical abuse from their parents as children married violent husbands. Wives of violent former husbands, will marry another violent man. Children brought up by alcoholic parents will marry an alcoholic. etc, etc.
Is there any recorded studies of former members of abusive
cults repeating their mistakes.
Is this something that regularly happens, or is it that I have an over active imagination.
