Subject: UBF issues and potential fallacies
In reply to: Mike K. 's message, "A whole load of logical fallacies" on 05:06:13 01/19/05 Wed

When engaging in arguments with UBF members about the issues and problems within UBF, both sides must be careful with fallacies.

What do you think about the following situations?

1. If we state to a UBF member that if they remain in UBF, they will experience abuse, depception, and manipulation is that a fallacy? Afterall, not all shepherds and chapter directors are the same. We can say that based on our experience, there is a good probability that abuse, deception, and manipulation will occur. But is it a fallacy to assert that if you remain in UBF, you will be abused, deceived, and manipulated?

2. I have noticed a tendency to argue that because UBF is not forthcoming with financial accounts, they are misused or misappropriated. Is this a fallacy? Not revealing something cannot be the same as misappropriation. Actual evidence of misuse is necessary, such as the witness of spending misuse that as been mentioned.

3. There seems to be a hindsight fallacy common in UBF. Leaders argue that everything has worked out so the past actions were not wrong. However, good results in the present does not validate a previous action.
