**continued from part 1**

I must confess, I am a fifth degree black belt in Taekwondo. My interpretation of the Bible in cases like this is based on practical applications of self-defense. Not that I allow godless eastern philosophies to direct my beliefs. You won't find me meditating on a mantra, that's for sure. The point is that Christians are not meant to be pacifists. We are to be firm and loving in the truth. Why do you think we have Christian apologetics? It's because we are saying, "Hey, we are sorry, but the truth is..." I don't think Christians should be avoiding confrontation or deferring our ability to defend ourselves, our families, and our ideals. In the international scene, I still think that the war on Iraq is justifiable, and that the preventative measures that the Bush administration took against Hussein were legitimate. I would rather have a tyrannical despot disposed of before he attacked us with megatons of mustard gas. Even if he never had anything, it's better to stop evil before it gets worse. I just wish we could do the same to N Korea UBF director Kim Jong Il. ;p

I agree with you, Mike. War is horrible. But without some kind of action, there would be no peace. If it comes to war, then yes, everyone does suffer. Yet, God is in control and is working for the good through the sufferings of all. Just like UBF, where they have been manipulating and controlling people. If we did not "war" against them, they would not be walking on the pins and needles they are on now. They are so afraid to do anything to anyone anymore, because now everyone can find out about it on the internet. If we did not stand up to them, they would continue to get worse. (Not that they have gotten better, but at least they know we are watching.)

Anyway, I didn't write this just for you, but for everyone's benefit on this forum. There are times to turn the other cheek, and there are times to take a stand. The war in Iraq, IMHO ( <- Look! I used it!!) was one of those times where we had to take a stand.

I appreciate and respect your opinion, Mike. Just wanted to take the time to give you something to dwell on.

Thanks,

Tom
