It was dark outside when Talitha finally woke. Her cheeks were dirty from crying then laying on the floor. It was on the grime-covered floor she found herself and bolted up onto her knees, batting at any spiders that might have crawled on her while she slept. Satisfied that she was creature-free, she felt around for her flashlight. Click. Click. Click. She groaned. The batteries were now dead. How long had she been out? She suddenly sneezed. Then sneezed again and rubbed her nose. Dust. "Hullo." She croaked, her throat dry and lips chapped. The deep silence echoed back to her. How odd indeed. By all the footprints she had seen earlier that day, she had assumed that a caretaker came into the church often. She had been left alone all evening.

Yet...

Not alone at all.

Something has definitely changed. A smiled tugged at the corners of her mouth as she raked her fingers through her black hair. She felt... lighter, perhaps even giddy. She was grinning, and couldn't help it. Somehow she knew she had seen a glimpse of the kingdom of heaven. She had touched... or was touched... by something greater than she could ever understand. Her legs trembled as she rose to her feet. Talitha sighed and spread her hands. I don't understand You! Throwing back her head, she laughed. But I love You! Her eyes had been opened, she believed. There was still the haunting gloom of past shadows edged somewhere in the back of her mind, but the things she once thought so important didn't seem to matter anymore. Her scars didn't seem to matter anymore.

Talitha turned toward the open church door and just stared out into the night, her mouth open in a childish grin...
