My engagement ring is also an antique. I don't know whether this sounds strange but for a long time I worried about where it came from and who had given it away. For a little while it made me feel sad: that maybe it hadn't been treasured enough. Does that make sense?
Then as I became used to it and it became a part of me,(the way our jewellery is prone to,) I came to see it as a second chance to give something that is a token of love, memories to treasure.
