A wonderful snippet indeed, Nancy.

As a fan posted not so long ago somewhere in DanLand, "Well, every time I think I'm past the tears...."

And from another, "And I have reached for you often--when only your voice would do to soothe me."

What hearing him doesn't do to me. I'm aware of the cavernous void every day but bitter-sweet treasures like this just blindside me. I had to stop the clip because I couldn't see to type.

I've wanted to share a sweet story that happened last weekend. I attended a party given by a new colleague to celebrate the several graduates in her large, extended family. I hadn't met any guests previously but I knew about many from her stories.

A sister (and an honoree who received an MA in Administration) is a musician of the folkie kind ~ electrified acoustic, reminding me very much of Joni Mitchell. Liz is the reason I put my guitar in my car that afternoon. I suspected she might enjoy seeing it.

Her eyes widened when I opened the case. I didn't say a word. I just put it in her hands. She took in every detail and immediately saw that it was a Dan Fogelberg Signature Series Martin.

As she tuned, someone asked, "What guitar is that?" Her answer: "The best guitar there is." And then she played "Part of The Plan." People sang and I watched and listened with tears in my eyes. So many knew every word.

When she handed it back to me, she said, "There will never be another one like him and I am truly honored. Thank you so much."

I had tears in my eyes as I read your post...
I have played Dan's music everyday as I have even before he passed. It just gives me peace! I can't imagine not hearing his music because as you said there will never be another..
That is why I am so drawn to this site and feel this is the only place that "gets it" and really understands the need we have to stay connected..Jean gets it and I thank God for her staying connected and letting us grieve with her..

I always enjoyed the personal touch Dan put into his music, almost a map of his life all through the years. It seems all Dan's fans feel a kinship to his music.
I haven't been able to post since the release date of Dan's final CD was posted. It is a bittersweet feeling, so happy to finally know it's coming, but so sad to know it's the last one.
I wish more of his fan's knew of this site and I hope word spreads of the CD release.

B
