Subject: Dan tunes on WNUR Radio

It's nice to hear Dan get some radio attention, so I want to pass on a link and some respect to Ron Lewis of the Folk Show on WNUR radio in Evanston, Illinois. He not only played Dan's cover of Neil Young's "Birds", but followed it up with "To the Morning". He also had some nice words to say about Dan and the new CD, and later ended the show with "Nature of the Game", which would've been the icing on the cake had he played the whole song. Instead, it was faded out after only a minute to end the show. Shame to cut Dan off like that, but that's radio for ya. Still, it was great to hear Dan get some airplay with the new CD.

If you're looking for an internet radio program to try out, the Folk Show is worth a listen. The show I heard was an interesting mix of acoustic folk. Along with the Dan tunes, there was also Jackson Browne, John Gorka, Jonatha Brooke, Dar Williams, and several other folks I'd not heard before, including a trio that caught my attention called Sons of the Never Wrong. They stream the show on Sunday's at 10 am, but you can also listen to archived shows at their site. Here's a link to the most recent show, with the Dan tunes if anyone's interested:

Oh, and don't be deterred by the very beginning of the archived show. For some reason the recording begins with the very end of a program that aired before the Folk Show. The music starts about 2 minutes into the recording.

Well, in my previous post I was applauding Ron Lewis for playing Dan tunes on his show. But of course, I couldn't resist ragging on him a little about fading out "Nature of the Game". So, now that he's made good on it, I've gotta give him the full credit he deserves.

Ron said he would play it again on his next show, and yesterday while filling in for another host, he did indeed play Nature of the Game, all the way through. But that's not all. As if my nitpicking wasn't enough, I had also greedily suggested that it would be nice if he also played "Come to the Harbor". And to my surprise, he kindly played that too. So Ron's reputation is not only clean now, he also gets extra credit...lol.

And I gotta tell ya, I feel kinda special right now - it's not often I have my requests fulfilled. (But I know the feeling won't last long. In fact, I just made a request to my son....something along the lines of cleaning his room....and I got the usual response. So the specialness is fading fast.....but it was nice while it lasted :-)

Seriously, thanks to Ron at WNUR for giving Dan some of the attention he deserves. I don't know if other stations are playing Dan's new music or not, because I don't listen to radio much, but at least we know someone's getting it out there. So, check out Ron's show if you get a chance. He's a good guy.
