I don't think many will see this here, yet if someone by chance does check out this site, maybe this song I wrote may show a bit of what I think a lot of us felt. I'm just getting around to shopping the song to publishers, and haven't received a rejection yet, so I thought it might be worth sharing after all.
I live on the coast in Southern California, and didn't write this piece until the eve of last years Peoria meet an greet at Pierre Marquette. I hadn't written anything since Dan died. That night I had hit up youtube, and watched a couple of video's, and bam, 30 minutes later, something in the air, brought this song out. Hopefully soon, I'll have a professional recording of the song. I waited because I had listened to others songs, and I just had to walk away from it all for awhile, using Dan's lyrics at that point in time in a song didn't do anything for me (which is a totally personal feeling nothing more).
I read all the letters on the websites, and so many peoples reactions were that they cried. So the title of the song is "I Think I'll Cry" and its dedicated the Dan, but can actually be used for anyone suffering a loss of someone special in their life on any level. Hope you enjoy the words, and hopefully not too long from now, it will be able to be heard. Here are the lyrics, 1rst verse, Finding out...2nd Verse, The loss...3rd verse, the gratitude.
I think I'll Cry
I awoke...to no sun.
On that morning, the ocean won
It was misty and gray....
I read the story, news was on TV.
Nothing helps when it hurts like this,
Its so hard to see, its ended this way.
Well, I think I'll cry, I think I'll cry,
I think I'll........Oh I'll cry.
I felt the loss, so many have known,
The kind that takes your heart in a
Cold Cold grasp, then squeezes slow.
Some believe that angels cry, when one
So loved, loved so, accepts their wings,
and flies away.
Chorus:
The years pass, I wouldn't write,
Then it crept in like whispering winds,
In the deep dark night, guiding me to
What I'd write. For the words, in meaningful lines,
All your thoughts with heart, all you helped us to
Define....No stone seemed unturned.
Know we listened, and lessons we've learned.
Chorus:
Know we listened, and lessons we've learned,
Thanks again, for the lessons I've learned.
