My daughter has never liked the cover-ups available. The one I bought her she picked out. But just thinks they all look so drab. So, I thought I'd make her a new one for Christmas and I was thinking about some different fabrics. Like maybe a swimsuit material/skating costume material or something pretty and not cotton/poly basic cover up stuff. I'd love to hear what you've tried and if it works.

Replies:
-Depends on how protective you want the cover-up to be...My daughters new dresses will both be silk and I'm thinking of making them cover-ups from a lightweight crinkle rainwear. It comes in various colours, is lightweight and will protect from drinks etc. I don't let my kids eat in their costumes but water is something they always have on hand and even that will mark the silk, so I'm taking no chances.:)

-I now make a cover-up that is water repellent and breatheable like gortex. Also I have another fabric like it and it looks like camaflauge with pink running through it. I make these to sell and I have 4 different sizes. Kelsocovers

-Dress Cover-up material.. I recommend the water resistant light weight nylon fabrics for our new cover-up pattern which will be released shortly PatM

-We tried a shiny cotton/poly –looks really cute.
