Hello Susan, Cathy, Brenda, Ted and Megan. Good luck to all in your interests and exploits. We visited my parents over Labor Day weekend. Mother is unable to quit cigarettes. She loves my babies and puts out a cigarette when she has a chance to hold one of them.
Funny how I'm the great producer of grandchildren around my parents. Back at work, I'm a professional woman who deals with husband, children and job.
So many women do not have a husband or a man at home.
Back to the work thing. They want new employees to get so many hours of orientation so I got the group for 2 hours today to make up for the Labor Day holiday.
By the time the newby group gathered at 3 p.m., I had already asertained that the three young women had moved into the spacious upstairs apartment above where Marilyn lives.
This also works out great for Brian, the 22-year-old son of Marilyn. He dates Sherry, who rushed through a religious college to get a degree at 21.
The other occupants of the apartment are also newbies. Tara is the smoker of the bunch, smoking more than me. She got out of college on time at 22. She said she really wasn't a partier in college but did smoke.
On the other hand, Betty is 23 and partied her way through college. She reasons if you drank that much, you had to smoke some.
While Betty said she had a pack in her purse, she produced it today when we went outside. She offered around. Tara had her own and Lance, Sherry and Marilyn declined.
"You'll never see me smoke," Sherry said. I took those as famous last words. "If I smoked, Sherry would tell Brian," Marilyn said. I didn't know how to take that.
Sherry said Marilyn could smoke and she would not tell her son.
Marilyn, 39, is the new chief accountant but according to policy, she must go through orientation. She's taken over an office that is a designated smoking area. The anti-area is still used by some accounting employees as a place to smoke that is away from the designated smoking area.
"You should cut the smoking off," Lance, an established anti said.
Just before 5 Marilyn received a phone call. The tone made it clear it was a personal call. After the call, Marilyn asked Sherry if she and Bryan could keep an eye on her girls tonight.
Sherry said sure. Apparently she know Marilyn was hoping for the call.
When 5 p.m. came, we did not hesitate to adjourn.
