(He wasn't, in any sense of the word, impressed by the Senator, especially when he kissed Haylie's hand as though he were a close personal friend. His brow climbed back up again at the gesture and he would have commented had he not realized how posessive his train of thought was getting, and how speaking of it would only endanger the mission at hand. Inwardly he cursed the fact that he wasn't an actual wealthy man taking his girlfriend out for a banquet.. or else people would getting pieces of his mind for the way they treated Haylie like a piece of meat. He flashed a winning and almost predatory smile at the senator before sliding his arm around Haylie's back so that his hand was on her hip, his gaze shifting to her and then to the senator again as he responded.) The United States Military is hardly 'hard up' for men, Senator, though it is a shame that so many men underestimate the fire and ability of an intelligent young woman. (His smile turned unashamedly arrogant and he blinked once, as though challenging the older man to argue with him. Haylie may be delicate, but she was in no way weak or unable.. and she was his little angel.)
