The MIL showed up, I was surprised that she was able to take pics. By this time it was third and I didn't care anymore. My first time I didn't want anyone there (except hubby, but that didn't stop any of my many visitors), I was also throwing up alot and was in labour for 20 hrs.

Your placenta story reminds me of when I finally did have my son, the doctors were standing around looking over the placenta and I thought that was the strangest thing. I found out later the placenta can show signs of abnormality and disease,(I guess in the colour, etc.).

Ewwwww!!!! I couldn't even look at that! It looks like a giant piece of raw liver!

Oh yeah, and take it from my bf. Do not run out of the room to tell everyone what you've just had when it's time to cut the cord! Don't make the nurses chase you down the hallway! Nate was born and Roy hit the door to go call his Mom. They chased him down the hallway, but we had to wait until he was done on the phone.

Oh and I only got half the dose of epidural because I was moving so quickly. It's very scary when they tell you to hold still but you're in labor! Anyhow, just before Nate was born, the epidural wore off. They quickly gave me the other half (which was then scary afterwards because I couldn't feel anything below my waist). But anyhow, I can honestly say I know what it's like to have a baby with and without the epidural and I suggest the epidural!
