One has to wonder if it wouldn't be a better PR move to simply issue a moratorium on immigration. Fucking crazy! This is going to invite more hatred and general distrust of the USA :(

i also think this: who's to say those detention centers will only be used for immigrants? maybe guantanamo bay is getting a little crowded??? in the last couple years, there have been lots of instances where people, immigrants or otherwise, were wrongly held for one reason or another, or none, and this just seems to be an easy way to extend that. i mean doens't that sound a little too much like the beginnings of a "final solution" to anyone else?

I don't think it would or be limited. Consider that the Patriot Act essentially strips you of your Bill of Rights, and I could easily see how someone who is snatched up under that "law" could be placed in one of these facilities.

I wonder if there will be showers ;)

Not just renewed. Even more government powers were added regarding surveillance, monitoring of library records, etc.
