don't dress for warm weather. the GC is sort of near flagstaff, and it is COLD there, much much colder than it is here in the NW. it might get warm in the day if it's mid or late april, but the moment that sun goes down, poof! so does the temperature. sedona will probably be a little bit warmer.

flagstaff is pretty cool, you might want to at least drive through it. there are a million restaraunts so you could stop in and have a bite, right off route 66 or something. it's just pretty awesome to see the high elevation trees and wildlife, and the small town nightlife, and the distant mountains.

but if you have to pick, go to sedona, lol.

Chrys - that's right - you were over there at one time too!

I saw that the average temperature for the week we're going is 61. But a girl I know in Scottsdale said that 61 and dry is far different from 61 in humidity - and she sounded as if it was colder feeling that way???? Is that right? I noticed there are tons of ski slopes near where we're staying part of the time.

Say a small prayer for my mom, she is scattered out there.

It is beautiful there and I would strongly suggest that you go inside the canyon, not just peer out at it from atop. If you do decide to go inside, do not go too far. Maybe an hour cuz it will take you 2 hours to get back out, the gravity is that strong there! Wear really comfortable hiking boots and bring plenty of water.
One other thing, stop for a moment on your journey in there and just listen to the silence...it is remarkable how quiet it is. It is like listening to time itself. It reminds you, by its granduer and beauty, how infintesimally small we all really are, quite a connection to the universe.
Have a wonderful time,
Jenna
