Great summary of the best of science fiction television, Officer Torch. You cited most of my favorites, especially Twilight Zone, Outer Limits and Star Trek. I was a kid when Lost in Space hit the airwaves, so I have a certain nostalgic fondness for it, despite the fact that it is clearly no match for Star Trek in terms of quality and sophistication.

Otherworld is one I have not heard of, but I am glad that you mentioned Cosmos. I recall enjoying this excellent blending of science and entertainment back in 1980 on PBS. Carl Sagan's appealing voice and his contagious enthusiasm for the subject helped turn this 13-week factual series into an unlikely popular hit, and catapulted Sagan to national fame. I remember Tonight Show host Johnny Carson mimicking Sagan by exaggerating his frequent use of the phrase "billions and billions."

During the 1990s I was a big fan of the phenomenal cult hit The X-Files, although I seldom watch it in reruns today. One of the inspirations behind its creation was Kolchak: The Night Stalker, the short-lived but influential 1974 series starring Darren McGavin. The Night Stalker's primary focus was horror, although one or two episodes did delve into the realm of science fiction.
