Several reproductions were released over time. I have the 7 volumes, which were released within the past few years, by Checker Book Publishing Group. These hardcover books contain the Alex Raymond Sunday strips. The books are printed on good quality paper, are in color, sharp and clear. I ordered them over a period of time, directly from the publisher and Amazon. I've seen them on ebay and elsewhere, but never in a bookstore. Volumes 1-5 cover FGs first trip to Mongo; 6-7 go into war efforts and a second trip to Mongo. I believe most of these volumes are still available, but some volumes may be harder to find than others. Seems they were not released as a single volume to keep purchasing costs down. I enjoy these colorful, nicely made books...they indeed show the artistry of Alex Raymond.

I've also Volumes 1 and 2 of Austin Briggs dailies. They are in black and white from 1940-1942. Mine are softcover book versions from the Kitchen Sink Press. Think I purchased them on ebay a few years back. These are also enjoyable. A minor complaint of mine is the landscape format of these, and the Checker books. (I would have preferred a portrait format, but it's really a minor issue.)

I always leaned toward the serials....but let me say that you won't be disappointed if you get into the comics....in fact, the word "comics" can be misleading. These are indeed artistic works, with excellent stories. I am not a comic book collector, but if you're a Flash Gordon serial, movie, animation fan, you will likely enjoy this material, big time.

Note...there are various sources, publishers, etc available for this material. The aforementioned pertains to what I've obtained over time during the past several years. And, there are of course materials from artists afterwards, MacRaboy, Keefe, others. (I am far from being expert in the comic world...my apologies to artists I might have not mentioned.)

There is a link on this site where you can see some parallels between the comic strips and serial--it's called "Spitfires of the Spaceways." Roam around there...lots of interesting material, and comparisons with some movies and comics.

Hope this has been of some help.
