This Tarnak guy in Mars triple crossed...Flash Gordon and friends, Emperor Ming, and Queen Azura. I think he and Zandar were two of a kind. Seems Tarnak and Zandar were always on the same wavelength and buddies. In the room behind Azura's throne, they both were there when Ming took over. It was Zandar who slipped Ming the ray gun to drag Flash into the room, and Tarnak quickly spirited Ming out as Flash scuffled with Zandar. Yeah, Tarnak was a squealer type, first class brown noser, and interested primarily in his own hide. On the positive side, Wheeler Oakman did a great job with the part, and in many other films.

If you're interested, these two were also in 1935s The Phantom Empire. Wheeler Oakman aka Tarnak, played Argo, a rebelious type chancellor who turned traiter and went against his Queen Tika of Murania, an underground city. A partner in crime was Rab (I believe a scientist....maybe of questionable integrity)played by Warner Richmond who played Zandar in FG '38 Mars.

Think I saw these two elsewhere in some serial or movie/films, perhaps even in reverse roles. As I recall, Oakman usually was cast as the more powerful of the two. Any recollections, corrections, let's hear 'em.
