(He shook his head without thinking that she couldnt see him before he walked over and pulled up a deck chair, sitting on it and resting his elbows on his knees, his frame blocking the sun from her face so that she wouldn't have to.) That's not what I meant.. I am sorry it happened like that. (He was quiet for a moment as he realized just how much he had come to love Haylie.. a year ago he would have let the two women fight over him, probably would have amused the hell out of him and he would have gladly slept with both of them.. even better at the same time. But now.. god help him, he was upset that she had had to see the other woman in the apartment.. He reached out and tucked her hair back, needing to touch her to reassure himself that he could still.) Remy knows our history, he wouldn't put her as my partner. (He said confidently, he knew that Remy understood what had gone on between them and would never put him with Courtney on the field.) (He positively glowed with fatherly pride at the compliment, having a feeling that such words from a man like Braden meant a lot. He nodded.) Thanks.. (He murmured as he watched the little interlude take place between the two recruits.. perhaps Braden didnt like to be compared or grouped with Courtney.. but he didnt seem to mind the idea of being around her. He looked over his shoulder towards the patio and frowned.. at least he would have some privacy to talk to Courtney about the groundrules if she decided to join the agency.) (She smiled at his words, crossing her arms over her stomach as she watched him.) You better believe it. (She returned, then turned, tearing her gaze away from the man to look at Remy.. they had a job to discuss and she was in a hurry.)
