In reply to: Ed Valis 's message, "Nickel Hill Update" on 15:03:16 10/18/01 Thu

This may sound like doom & gloom from my standpoint, but it was reported on the national media that Power Plants were being viewed as prime targets by the same terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon last month. This was according to sources in our intelligence agencies such as the CIA and FBI.

My question is: can this new Power Plant company assure and guarantee the people of Dracut that if an aircraft or a vehicle were to crash into this facility, whether it be on purpose or by accident, the immediate reaction wouldn't be detrimental and fatal to not only Dracut residents but also to those residing in the neighboring communities?

I realize this question probably wasn't addressed during the public hearings for Nickel Hill, but I think a lot has changed in this country regarding Power Plants, as well as national security, since this past Sept. 11th. Personally, if this new Power Plant company can't assure and guarantee the people of Dracut with the safety of its facility, I'd rather see them operate their business far, far, far away from Dracut.
