Isn't a [Commentary] supposed to be one's own personal opinion or perspective? I just came back from one of my favorite watering holes downtown and asked about 10 people there to read Selectman Warren Shaw's column from this past Dispatch News and explain, if they could, where this writer stands on either the Grinder Pump issue or the New Town Hall. None of those who were willing to read that column could determine where Mr. Shaw stood on either issue. I like to think I'm an intelligent person but I couldn't figure out what was the point of Mr. Shaw's column. If the guy isn't the politically-correct type and he wasn't trying to offend anybody, how do you interpret what Mr. Shaw was trying to say here, Naturally? I agree Mr. Shaw is a straight arrow and would probably do very well for the Dispatch News as a beat reporter. Although I never caught Mr. Shaw's radio show, somebody told me he's more opinionated in that media than he is with this newspaper column. With the Town Meeting about a week away, I'd like to know how Mr. Shaw feels about these two issues so I can base my decisions accordingly. Right about now I'm just kind of straddling the fence on these two issues alongside Selectman Warren Shaw.
