Newburgh HAS a movie theater (Downing Film Center).

Newburgh HAS opera: Verdi's Rigoletto this July (OK, it's a concert version).

We HAVE live theater: at the Actor's Studio, and the Aquinas Theatre at Mount Saint Mary College.

We HAVE classical music concerts: Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra. Kids anywhere, including here, would be fascinated to see/hear all those different instruments.

We HAVE several art galleries: including a new space exhibiting nine prints of Salvador Dali's work. You know the saying: if you want to write, read. If you want to paint, see.

And in addition to other things we have, Newburgh HAS the best river views in the region: mother nature's best art.

Last weekend, I saw the "art shuttle" introducing someone to some of our treasures.

Sometimes it seems Newburgh specializes in dismissing its best assets. While we fix what needs fixing, and build what needs building, let's not dismiss what ain't broke.

Bravo Newburgh!
