We HAD a Music Academy. If memory serves it burned down. We HAD a live theater. We HAD 3 movie houses. We HAD classical music concerts in Downing Park. What else we don't have is enough people to support these things anymore. Unless there's immediate momey to be misappropriated there's no interest in anything cultural in Newburgh. Kingston, Beacon, Poughkeepsie, Cold Spring are interested in culture. Newburgh is interested in gangs, illegals and Federal funding to support them. And THEY'RE not interested in culture. They're interested in Western Union and how fast they can sap the US dollar out of the country. This guy Bryan is the rare exception.
Now you tell me where we could put a Cultural Center or a school of Fine Arts in this city where people won't be afraid to park their car and leave it. That would be a good start. Then tell me who would enroll. We can't even support a good art gallery around here.
You want art and culture you have to leave Newburgh. You want bloodshed and violence here's the capitol. Every place has to specialize in something.
