Subject: SciFi vs SF

SciFi and SF are usually used to refer to different facets of science fiction. SciFi refers to Media Science Fiction, in which action and special effects are the most important compnents. This type of Science Fiction is evident in Star Wars. SF, on the other hand, usually requires more depth of thought, as in Babylon 5 and most written works of Science Fiction. In SF, adherence to known scientific facts and/or some exploration of the social ramifications of technology is a necessity. Because it has elements of both SciFi and SF, Star Trek has many fans among both groups of Science Fiction fans.
