Chrissi,

If you do not already have a tan, I strongly suggest an SPF of 30 or higher. I am fair skinned, so usually I start with 50 SPF, and switch to 30 SPF by mid-week. Be sure you re-apply often! If you forget, you will really regret it. I usually come home with a light tan, even with the sun protection. --
Also, reguarding your questions about the differences between Sanibel and Pennsicola--(I have been to both but Pennsicola was a long time ago, so keep that in mind)-- Sanibel seems to be so much more peaceful. There's no hub-bub, and the crowds seem to be smaller. I really do think you are just going to fall in love with the island. I have never met anyone who didn't!
Have Fun!
Cindy

PS>> If you want to go out to the beach at night, take a flashlight. The little crabs are cute at night. If you see any turtles or turtle nests, do not shine your light near or at them. You might confuse them. Don't go too far into the water after dusk. Its not safe to swim at night.
