We have made it over the mountains with no mishaps, and are now safely ensconced in an inne here in Halifax. I stuffed a shirt under the girls before entering, making her appear pregnant, and I am glad now that I did. It did not take long, to find out who was waiting for the men that would never be coming with their prize, and surely they had the town gates watched. I also observed with some interest, a wench of the Hinds Eye sent off with a rough hand on an errand, and come down the stairs there later sporting a lovely black eye. I spoke with her briefly, and she seems to have some disdain for the man that had hit her, but would say no more, warning me away. I debated on whether or not to steal her and force more information, but I felt a risk and did not act. I left quickly and returned here to our room, and discussed things with Kain.
Luck is for once, on our side, for his magic is stronger here, and he was able to bring forth much of my clothing and supplies as well as weapons. He also sought some assistance with understanding the girls language..and that is a story for another day, for the advice came from his son. It was an amazing sight to see, but I fear that Kain knows more than I wanted him to. He saw the touch of Gaia..saw it dormant so he says, and though he has not spoken of it outright, he knows my secret.
I suppose I have finally admitted it to myself, and I believe that the gift of Gaia has come with a price.
I wonder what has happened to Saben..I wonder if R'Auco flies the night skies, but if its so, it is far from where I am now, and a sea lay between us.
Here I digress! I will not fall into melancholy. There is much to do here. I believe we can use Lord Grisholm as...well, I perhaps should not write this now.
In the meantime, I still need to find better clothes for our lovely girl, and discuss with Kain if we need horses.
The weather here is vile, icey rain and cutting wind. I shall never be so glad to see a season as I will summer.
