I think I would be able to survive on my own, well depending on the type of extra I was developing, if that was to go out of control I'm not sure what I would do. I would most likely seek out someone to help me, but that could be dangerous as well.

Not having anyone to show you the ropes and teach you can be a scary path to walk alone, now add the mystery of being a vampire and not knowing where to go and who you can trust, that alone could cause a break down or two long the way.

So could I cross over alone, maybe.
Would I want to do it alone deffently not.

those are my thoughts and I'm sticking to them :) hehehe
