Naturally, upon witnessing the idiotry of the creature junk-bathing in front of them, Phir was inclined to agree that the troll would probably be useless from here on out. He’d be far too busy revelling in his new found (all be it weak) health to assist himself and Skarae in their negotiations with the Knows.
He turned his eyes (but not his face) in the direction of the General as he spoke to him, surprised momentarily when he seemed to drift off for no reason. Then he realized that the man was no longer looking at him, but behind him at something in the trash.
Whatever it was, it did not take a genius to figure out that it was making him upset, so much so that he struggled for his next words when he spoke.
Phir remembered, of course, that the good man was going through considerable anguish over the death of his beloved (his…lover, maybe?) and he felt only sympathy for him. He did not want to embarrass or else hurt the man by saying anything about it, but to show that he was deeply sorry about the girl, he momentarily placed his hand on the warrior’s shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. He felt such an overwhelming kinship, a similarity with this man. He was passionate, he was talented in his art, and a great warrior. He would do great things with his life; it was far from over.
They would have a lot more in common between them if he failed to find Glanconer in time.
“Thank you,” he spoke quietly. “I am eternally indebted to you as it is. For you to offer your help once again to help speak with these people….you are a good, strong, man. If we return home, I will find a way to repay you for your valour. I swear it.”
He nodded, and then released the General’s shoulder, turning to follow the taste-not this non-existant scent- towards the only people that could ease them through this miserable situation. He only took a few steps forward, however; he would wait until he was sure Skare was walking alongside him.
(Take me to the knowmanz plz.)
