Ms Jerome
Regarding your email to Mr Holbrough. How dare you?
It would be interesting to know what experience you have of 'running a theatre company these days'.
Perhaps you are extremely knowledgeable, perhaps not. For your information many of the members at BLT are avid supporters of the Arts. Leeds Playhouse, Stratford, Northern Broadsides, Mind the Gap etc. etc.
You say that you have ‘endured’ a number of BLT productions over the years. If you find them so ‘indulgent’, ‘diversive’, and ‘insulting’ then why do you come? Perhaps to revel in your own self indulgent superiority?
You have met many cast members and find them insular, clique-y (proper word?) and singularly egotistical. Having spoken to a few members we do not recognise you, you obviously made no impression.
You suggest that Mr Holbrough should ‘get out there and live a little’, how arrogant. Do you have any idea of what he does?
Our fan base may be ageing but our youth group is flourishing. We play to large audiences, six days a week, eight times a year. What is wrong with that? Mr Holbrough is not a hindrance to our progression. It is people like him that keep the Theatre alive.
What do you do other than whine? Like your famous namesake you are paddling a rather pathetic boat. BLT has been, and continues to be, a fantastic place for people who are interested in the theatre to get involved or simply to watch a play. As we say, we don’t please everyone, all of the time, but we do please an awful lot of people.
Please don’t bother to come back.
