Well we do have alot of green space on this island I agree and we should be happy with what we have. That being said, this island needs nothing more then affordable housing not more public space. Many long time residents live in their vehicles several months out of the year so home owners can rent out or use their homes themselves during the summers.
As well I know many people living under the constant stress of not knowing if their rentals will be available to them next year or even next month. This situation would not be tolerated in any city or town but here on Cortes its looked at by too many people as one of the little nuances of living here.
Long power outages, higher prices and 2 ferries are a little nuance, though the ferry issue is being scratched off my list. Housing is NOT a little nuance. Its time the goverment too kick in some bucks and our Jenny needs too take the lead on this issue.
We need bylaws restricting rentals. ie. nothing shorter then a month rental agreement to stop homes from being rented out for a few days or a week at a time during summer months.
Unless the Whaletown commons group plan on building low cost housing first on the Commons sight I dont want any of my tax dollars helping too pay it.
