This photo was published on 19th July 1959, five days before the final night. All these girls in these pictures have two things in common – all are beautiful and all hope to win fame and fortune with their looks. Most of them started on the bottom beauty contest rung of the ladder by winning local titles, then regional, then national until here they are representing practically every country in the free world as they vie for the title of Miss Universe 1959. These are 79 foreign and United States entrants gathered at Long Beach, California, where the judging for Miss Universe will take place.
