 Miss World 1959. Photo 9.

This photo was published on 4th November 1959, six days before the final night. Which of these three lovelies, who will be competing for the Miss World 1959 title in London next Tuesday, is the soldier?

It could be Miss India, Fleur Ezekiel, on the left of the trio, who has arrived just too late for Britain’s “Indian summer.”

It could be 18-year-old Miss Brazil, Dione Brito Oliveira, in the centre, whose ambitions, however, seem comparatively unmilitary to marry and have a family.

The answer is that it’s Miss Israel, Ziva Shomrat, on the right. Any other Miss World competitors want to fall out?
