Subject: (25-2) I've taken a look at the answers above and I'm not sure anyone mentioned the possibility that this lovely lilttle home was not in Belfast, but more rural, to provide a bit of protection from the cruelties they have seen during the previous stint in Belfast, esp. the riots. (27-2) In reading this chapter I did feel that the father was somehow responsible for Jo's disappearance and potential death. The mother is guilty by association and doing nothing to stop the bullying and beatings her husband gave to the children. Ignoring something does not absolve one of responsibility.

  • I know what you mean about your DH being your closest friend. I have some long term friends, but we're not incredibly close, and I don't talk to them about anything. I've known DH since I was 16 years old, and he knows me best, for better or worse so they say. (NT) -- Denise, 15:48:36 09/18/07 Tue
  • Honey you're counted as one of my dearest friends. :) (NT) -- celtgirl, 15:59:38 09/18/07 Tue
  • Mahri, I'm not going anywhere so I can be another long-time friend. I understand what you mean as Fee is the only girlfriend who is that close. Jeet is my best friend but I havent known him as long as Fee though - only 18 years for him ;) (NT) -- Trac, 16:34:13 09/18/07 Tue
  • There's nothing mushy about that Marilyn as I would say the same about Tim. I've had a bad experience with a close girlfriend lately and will just count my blessings that I have my husband. But I do think that girlfriends are very important - both online and in real life. (NT) -- JaneH, 18:54:17 09/18/07 Tue
