Chapter 39, 'In the Light of the Stars'

'He watched her sleep, sweetly at peace.'

Photobucket

Casey visits a church for the first time since his father's funeral.
He is looking for guidance. Though the traditions and practices of his youth come back to him naturally, the prayers do not, he is needing Brian.

These are my thoughts:
He is at a crossroads, his priorities have changed and he's unsure what happens to Casey, the Casey he's always known, the destiny he has always thought was his. How does he go about traveling a path he never thought he'd travel - what happens to the path he thought was his.

Brian comes to Casey in a memory. A walk in which they discuss Casey's Mom, the type of love for a woman (or between a man and a woman for that matter) that is life changing and everlasting, no matter what curves and bumps your life takes.
I, myself, found comfort in these words so I can only imagine they stuck for Casey too - 'She's a defining moment, everything else in yer life came before or after her.'

He flips the coin.

Pamela never saw which side the coin landed on - I assume the choices were Boston & Ireland. Casey asks if she will go, to Boston, and take him with her.
What do you think? Did the coin actually land on Boston?
