Great images, Carla. Yvgena is such an interesting character (you know how I love Russians!). As for the meeting of minds, well, I tend to think that when two people connect intellectually, it is the perfect prelude to physical intimacy. I was quite surprised when it didn't happen, but for good and proper reasons, as we later learn. The ladies know that if Jamie has someone to care for, he won't languish in his own self-loathing. I think perhaps John, Liz and Maggie saw Pamela as a strong person (intelligent, poetic, beautiful too) who could help Jamie out of the funk he has been in since splitting with his wife. Yevgena feels he needs someone to bring him to life, to look after as she says, but to care about and allow his own problems to recede. Jessica has always been a friend, and I don't think Yevgena really thought Jamie would take that relationship to any other level, but maybe she was planting a seed for Jamie to realize that he needs someone in his life, of the female gender, to appreciate and hopefully love.
