In reply to: Lil 's message, "Sorry I'm late! :-) I wasn't in on the original EU discussion, so I am excited to participate as much as I can. I thoroughly have a new perspective about the IRA and the Irish situation that I never had before. I was pretty clueless for the most part, learning bits from the lyrics of U2, but nothing that really created the understanding I got from Cindy's explanation. When I first 'met' Casey I though him a slick, charming man. He seemed like a force to be reckoned with, but wasn't sure if he was good or bad. I'm glad he turned out okay. *g* I think the Riordans stuck around because it was in their blood, as Tracy said. They had a fight about them and were passionate about their country and rights. I have a question about yesterday's chapters, if Cindy has a minute to peek inside>>>" on 19:45:53 06/29/09 Mon

Yes, Jamie is different- special, etc. I don't know that he would consider himself particularly blessed, considering everything he goes through- but he's a hero in the classical sense, and his journey is from dark at the beginning of this book to light at the end. What he chooses to do with that light is, of course, the rest of his story. He is one of those beings that draws other things in- both human and animal, and even plants. I think we all know people like this, I just exaggerated these qualities, because Jamie is somewhat magical- mostly in the sense of what he gives to others, and how people feel around him.

As to learning more, Pamela and his friend Jonathan Wexler recently had a chat about how special he is in his study. That whole idea of light and fire and magnetism came up in regards to him.
