Subject: Sorry I'm late! :-) I wasn't in on the original EU discussion, so I am excited to participate as much as I can. I thoroughly have a new perspective about the IRA and the Irish situation that I never had before. I was pretty clueless for the most part, learning bits from the lyrics of U2, but nothing that really created the understanding I got from Cindy's explanation. When I first 'met' Casey I though him a slick, charming man. He seemed like a force to be reckoned with, but wasn't sure if he was good or bad. I'm glad he turned out okay. *g* I think the Riordans stuck around because it was in their blood, as Tracy said. They had a fight about them and were passionate about their country and rights. I have a question about yesterday's chapters, if Cindy has a minute to peek inside>>>

On page 9, Jamie's birth is the beginning of a gathering of animals and insects around him. I wondered if you were trying to portray that Jamie was special, different, blessed. The scene reminds me of the fairy tales, like Snow White, where the princess is surrounded by mice, birds, butterflies, etc. Like she is the incarnation of all that is good and right. But we know that Jamie has a darker side also, but it seems that's a result of his relationship with his father and lack of mother.

Would love to get your insight on this...and maybe there'll be more explanation in Book Three? :-)
