An old truck coughs to a stop in front of the barn. A young woman hops out, pushing back a strand of honey-colored hair behind an ear. She opens the back of the 3-horse trailer, pulling down the ramp and calling softly to the horses inside. "Welcome to your new home, Ally! Time to back out, now." Undoing the divider, she scrambles out of the trailer as the small mare inside backs out quickly. "Stay there, girl!" The young woman jumps back into the trailer, letting the other horse, a gelding, back down the ramp, leaving her inside and him walking to the front of the truck. "Wait, Cam, don't break the antena off again! Do you know how much it cost to repair that?" She hurries out of the trailer again, catching the gelding's lead just before he clamped strong teeth around the antena of the truck.
The young woman shakes her head. "Cash Register, you really do live up to your name - I'm always having to pay for you!" She laughs and turns toward the barn, clucking to the horses. "C'mon guys, in here!" The horses follow eagerly, nickering to the horses already in stalls. She stops near two empty stalls at the end of the barn, noting the worn latches and splintered walls - evidence of horses with bad habits. She opens to stall doors, and obediently the horses walk in. She quickly closes the door after Cam, unclipping his lead in the process, and moves into the mare's stall to take off her shipping boots and doing the same with the gelding.
She heads outside after making sure her horses were settled, with plenty of hay and water, and climbs into the truck to park the trailer in a convenient place to get her tack and other supplies. Deftly unhitching the truck, she heads to the dorm.
