1. I think these individuals were trying to avoid change within society. Society was built upon Victorian morals, and to see these new dances and hear new music, it was shocking to see the shift in values.

2. I think that some of these attacks were racially motivated, but not all of them. Dr. Brill's quote for example uses the words "savages" and "primitive", which could be a reference to racial bias.

3. Music can have an influence upon individuals in many different ways such as their behavior, but the critics dramatized the effects of the music.

4. There is no specific genre that could be labeled as immoral, there are certain lyrics of songs that are immoral from a wide variey of genres.

5. One harsh reation to music since I've been around was the response to gangsta rap. A major amount of people were shocked by the content of the lyrics, but now it is accepted by many people, just as swing eventually was.
