] Date Posted: 08:12:38 01/26/08 Sat ![]() Diary of An Escape Artist Afterwards when I am left faceless by your bellowed rant and the painted walls begin to crack and melt I close my eyes and breathe the acrid fumes of my demise. I didn't listen to the walls and their whispers. Instead I stayed and chose the slow death the twisting knife the house with no mirrors. Who did I think you were? How could I have given you the keys the right to shed your skin upon this floor I thought I cleaned so well. Hypocrisy lies twisted in the covers of our bed. Your jealous soul the great accuser while you leave each night in darkness masked to play your game so obvious now. Let some other lonely fool buy your goods tonight and fill your shady pockets. I don't intend to wait and find your black charade exposed in welts across my back. That day will never come not for this girl. The party's over like they say and you can keep the keys There's no one home anymore just the walls and they've got your number. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 14:21:56 01/27/08 Sun Great insight into this poem, DSL. Thank you. I have known a few women and counseled them, hoping they would find the strength to leave a very unhealthy relationship. This one did! xoxo Wilopent [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 10:49:04 01/28/08 Mon A poem that deals with one of life's rude awakenings. It takes some time to REALLY know someone. It's always a big risk that emotional investment we need to make in someone we choose to get involved with in the sense of a deep or committed relationship. Yet, the sadness doesn't really come from the enlightenment. Instead it draws up slowly in the one who cannot find the courage to break the chains and move on even after the truth is loud and unavoidable. Always something to dig into in your poetry Willow. For a time when I was younger I was that guy who put on a show so I can relate to this from both sides of the fence. That's about as honest as I can get. The changing for me came after I lost someone in my life that I truly loved because of my own foolish charades. Life is a learning experience and those that choose to learn will prosper. Those that continue on the wayward path will never reap the great benefits and rewards that love can bring to us all. Enjoyed this on two levels and from two sides. thanks, andy [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 16:41:27 01/29/08 Tue Hi Andy, All that you say is so true. There is so much to learn about loving oneself enough to break free, and on the other side . . . enough not to need to abuse or use another. Thank God, some of us learn and grow through these experiences. I admire your honest reflections and wonderful input on the subject of my poem. You are one who learns life's lessons and that's why you can write the beautiful poetry you write. It comes from really learning to be human, doesn't it? Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Hugs, wilo [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 16:45:48 01/29/08 Tue Thank you, Max, Yes it's true. So many endure the pain of abusive relationships behind closed doors. A resurrection comes when they have the strength to say "No more!" I appreciate your comments so much. Thanks again. xoxo Wilopent [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
