To do so will certainly give one or more wrong message - I get spanked for nothing, I'm not allowed to be a little down or I'll get punished, or some other "message" you don't intend.

Why not tell her what you observe and ask her what's up. If she says nothing's wrong, go fishing. Ask her if the issues you mentioned here (and probably some others) and see how she reacts.

And be sure she understands she hasn't done anything wrong and she isn't in trouble.
