Shailyn, I totally agree with your belief that President Johnson's policy in Vietnam was a failure because it only replenished the troops that had died, therefore not making the Army any larger, as originally intended. I also think that President Johnson underestimated the power of the Vietnamese and didn't realize that by sending a smaller army in that it would make the United States a lot weaker compared to Vietnam. I also agree that it was a good theory and that Johnson was looking to lose the least amount of American troops as possible.
