I have a few things to add. Also during the time of me having tests done it was found that my abdominal organs were reversed with my spleen on my right and liver on my left side. Also I was reading something about how when a total pancreatectomy is done all of it's connects to the common bile duct are removed along with it. Do to my age at the time they figured that i would make a better recovery then if they attempted a smaller procedure.

Other than during my recovery period i haven't had any significant hospital stays. I was in the hospital for just over a month. Part of it was waiting until i was able to eat and drink again when my stomach was ready for food. Then I spent time getting treated for diabetes and learning about everything i had to do with it. One of the worst things that happened to me with that was when I went back to school, my school's policies about kids with diabetes is that we had to go to the nurse to take our shots, one day she wasn't there and no one had told me when I dropped off my insulin for the day at the office and when I went at lunch time the nurses office was closed and they refused to open it. My teacher who also had a son in my class that had diabetes made them open it and supervised both of us doing our shots. Shortly after that both of us ended up switching to insulin pumps to avoid something like that again.
