I don't understand why a sports school would want such invasive procedures, as complications would be likely.

Depot injections are not that invasive but still can result in complication.

Do these sports schools expect the children to wear diapers during sports activities? It seems this would be opposite to their goal of helping children be competitive.

It wouldn't be unexpected for children in a special needs school, especially a boarding school to need disposable undergarments if not diapers.
