Tarot was cursing something under her breath but for the life of him, Zeth couldn’t hear what…which was saying a lot due to his subhuman abilities.

But Lucian words had halted him. That ache had been growing restlessly in his gut. Churning and burning while urging him to do more. It was the sweat of addiction that beaded on his brow at night. And it was the pungent poison that had crippled his recovery. Now he understood. He now grasped the concept that the drug had been administered during his captivity. That the face and mannerisms of Briallan had been projected onto everyone woman he’d met.
Perhaps this was the why he had 1) spared Fury and 2) wanted to throw her off the pier.
