ashena's inquiries went unanswered as hobo sam kept his dark, ghostly eyes on zeth. sam's coy smile made its chilly debut appearance, directing all its energy toward zeth. "you think me mad zeth? i wouldn't trade ashena's humanity for a hot dog you vampiric bastard. she has your blood and you're still not satisfied." having such knowledge was better than food in sam's opinion. that moment sam took those dangerous steps forward, making his way toward zeth and ashena. traffic cone was abandoned safely in the alleyway and starbucks cup was warm in his pocket. it was that very moment when he felt everything. all the years of wondering the streets, sleeping in the trash...all of these moments were flooding his memories. he felt the very spot where zeth stood and counted the very number of strides it would take sam and only sam to get to zeth's position. all he learned from others gathered to him like bugs to street lamps...each angle of each building...the exact height of each fall the exact length...this was the life of the homeless. they knew the world better than those living the high life. smooth advantage.
